Saturday Beginner Sessions I

Sat, Apr 6, 2024, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM EDT
Durham Bike Co-op, 1612 Acadia St., DURHAM, North Carolina Map

Saturday morning sessions are intended as an accessible gateway for new volunteers and membership with the Durham Bike Co-op. We will spend our time mostly taking apart old donated bicycles and recycling their many components when possible. In the process, attendees will learn about the various components and how they all work together to form a working bicycle. We may also have occasional workdays for sorting recovered bike parts to help with shop maintenance and/or upkeep.

Volunteer time spent here can help you earn a membership. Attending these sessions will eventually provide participants with a jumping-off point into more advanced mechanic training sessions usually occurring on Sundays or to DIY shop sessions on Thursdays or other days of the week. (See event calendar for active sessions to sign up for)

COVID vaccinations recommended. Please wear long pants and closed toe shoes to prevent injury while working in the shop. Ages 15 and below require a parent or guardian in attendance.
